Visual Studio 11 Beta and .NET Framework 4.5 Beta Feb 29th
It seems like the Microsoft folks are making good use of the extra day and releasing the Beta of VS 11 and .NET Framework 4.5 on Feb 29th. I just realized I had to start a new category in the blog system here. Here are some relevant links:
- Jason Zander provides a “sneak preview” into the upcoming beta release focusing on the clean, professional design experience and usability improvements.
- Soma makes the formal announcement with his post, The Road to Visual Studio 11 Beta and .NET 4.5 Beta. He mentions that these are “Go Live” releases. He wisely focuses on the fact that developer landscape and especially platforms/devices have greatly expanded and changed. For example, phone, tablet and other devices that depend on touch and speech. The cloud is also a large factor.
- The Visual Studio Blog covers Introducing the New Developer Experience, discusses the significant changes to the Visual Studio 11 IDE. It’s clear that developer and user productivity is a main theme.
- Brian Harry announces the new free product, Coming Soon: TFS Express for teams of five.
