Things Working a Lot Better and Kudos to Alienware and MSFT Support

I am no longer so worried about the Alienware and Vista. I called Alienware and they sat on the phone until we fixed the wireless driver and everything else I was concerned about. They gave me a number for Microsoft Vista Ultimate support and they were thoroughly helpful and professional. Within minutes I had the hotfix. I want to say the both Alienware and Microsoft are to be thoroughly commended for their support departments. I was quite happy with both.

I'm glad to see you've got everything working. I've had nothing but good experience with Vista so far (knock on wood). I've got it installed on a sony vaio, as well as a couple of homebuilt AMD 64 boxes, and nothing but good things to say. The install was painless, and it's snappy.

I have to say that my experiences with Vista have gone well so far too. Oddly enough it seemed to work best out of the box on an older laptop (the newer laptop had issues with sleep/hibernate).

I agree with some of the others that a "professional" edition would be great.

I started using Vista at beta 2, and although that was a pretty slow build, I never had stability problems.  RC1 and the RTM version of Vista Business I am using now have worked great.  Except for one sleep/hibernate issue it has been quite snappy.

I am glad alienware and microsoft was able to help you out with the issues. I had earlier bought a HP laptop and returned it for lack of customer support. Based on your first positive post on Alienware, and after drooling over the specs, I bought one too. Your troubles later got me worried and now I am happy to note that you got good support from the support folks. I think how a company responds to a customer's complaints speaks volumes about their philosophy.
